La Défense Arena, a new venue in the region
Opened in 2017, Paris La Défense Arena reshaped the map of major venues in the region: Racing 92 rugby, international concerts and large events follow one another under its wave-shaped roof. It has become an easy date spot: meet for a match or a gig, extend the evening in one of the restaurants on the forecourt, then walk a few minutes to the Arche.
The Grande Arche and its esplanade
Set in line with the Louvre and the Étoile, the Grande Arche of La Défense towers over Nanterre. Its roof, one hundred and ten metres up, offers an unmatched view of Paris and the towers. The pedestrian esplanade, dotted with contemporary artworks, invites a stroll. The Arche terraces, on the Nanterre side, extend this grand urban crossing and set the tone for a lively first date.
Les Terrasses and the gardens
Around the Terrasses district, Nanterre has designed a real piece of city at human scale: landscaped gardens, small squares, shops and small cafés. The Arche gardens extend La Défense towards the Seine. On Lyad, people from Nanterre share their favourite spots away from the towers; a chance to find someone to walk a little further with.
